Turning Worries into Prayers

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:4-7

Anxieties and worries can creep up on all of us, so it’s good to know that the Lord is at hand. He always is, He’s always in control.

Therefore, when worry sets in, stop and pray. Earnestly take what is stressing you out to Jesus, remembering to be thankful for the fact that he hears us, and loves us.

When you do that, when you block the rest of life out and just talk to God, the peace will come.  Peace that surpasses all understanding.

In Paul’s letter to the Philippians, he is just echoing what Jesus has already said at the sermon on the mount.  In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus reminds us that God takes care of everything on earth from the birds in the sky to the wildflowers growing in the fields.  If they are taken care of, how much more will He take care of you and I, His children?  So let's turn our worries into prayers, and let Jesus guard our hearts and minds.
